A parrot helped the British authorities destroy a tape of drug traffickers led by a prisoner, after one of the members learned the bird to repeat expressions used by traffickers, such as “two to 25”, reports the BBC.

The bird was discovered while the police conducted searches at several homes in the city of Blackpool, where large quantities of heroin and cocaine were confiscated. The leader of the band, Adam Garnett, 35 years old, drove the band from prison, from 2023 to 2024.

During a search in Garnett's cell, the police found Routere Wi-Fi and mobile phones containing videos of drug kilograms and pictures of his girlfriend's parrot, Mango, who spoke and played with the money obtained from the sale of drugs.

Later, after that search, the police identified Garnett's accomplices: his friend, Shannon Hilton, 29, Dalbir Sandhu, 41, and Jason Gerrand, 50 years old.

A video on Hilton's phone showed how he was teaching his parrot to say “two for 25” in front of a child. Although incarcerated, the police have established that Garnett communicated with almost all the members of the criminal group they control.

A total of 15 members of the band pleaded guilty for drug offenses between February 2023 and July 2024.

Garnett was sentenced to 19 years and six months, while Hilton received a 12 -year prison sentence, and Sandhu was sentenced to 10 years. Gerrand was also sentenced to eight years and three months in prison. The other members of the band received punishments between 5 years and 7 years in prison.
