Viktor Orban called the EU to “conversations” with Russia “the language of strength”

According to him, Russia does not have enough strength to force Ukraine to surrender, and therefore there will be no further spread of the conflict. – The Russians are too weak for it. They are not able to defeat Ukraine, so they cannot realistically attack NATO – emphasized the Prime Minister of Hungary.
At the same time, he repeated his thesis that Kiev “does not deserve membership in NATO or the European Union.” He justified his position by the fact that in such a scenario over Hungary and the EU would hang the threat of a direct war with Russia. – I think we understand the history of Ukraine a little better than the French (…) We think that we do not have to love Russians, but we have to get along with them – said Orban.
Earlier he stated that Ukraine would not become a member of NATO, and after the war he would become a “buffer zone” between Russia and the North Atlantic Alliance.
Also during the interview, the Hungarian prime minister reminded that he had previously called for European leaders to resume dialogue with President Vladimir Putin, because he is convinced that without this a peaceful solution to the conflict in Ukraine is not possible.
Orban and the Prime Minister of Slovakia Robert Fica is considered the main “ally” of Putin in Europe And repeatedly called for anti -Russian sanctions, and also blocked EU initiatives regarding help for Ukraine.
As Politico reported in April, several EU countries to protect the process of agreeing on pan -European restrictions on Moscow before Orban, they are preparing to transfer this issue to the national level. Observers expect that if this idea is adopted by several leading EU countries, Hungary will lose the possibility of limiting EU decision -making (each of them must be approved by 27 Member States).
