Nicusor Dan, details about the upcoming meeting with Trump: “We will be ready very quickly.” Rare minerals and energy security, on the discussion agenda
On Tuesday, President Nicușor Dan provided details about a possible visit to Washington, stressing that such a trip will be correlated with the evolution of economic discussions between Romania and the United States.

“The invitation exists, as we have publicly communicated since May, after the telephone conversation with President Trump. The visit will have a strong economic component and will happen when the economic issues are mature enough for a discussion between the presidents. It is also an issue of the agenda, but from our side we will be prepared very quickly”, explained Nicușor Dan, at Radio România Actualităită.
The head of state also spoke about the Feldioara project, where Romania could treat rare minerals, through a partnership with an American company and Nuclearelectrica.
“There is a branch of Nuclearelectrica. We have the expertise to treat rare minerals. When such an agreement between an American company and Nuclearelectrica will materialize, it will be very interesting for Romania”said Nicușor Dan.
He specified that the discussions are being held by the American company directly with Nuclearelectrica and the Feldioara factory.
Reactors 3 and 4 from Cernavodă on the agenda of the visit
The president also mentioned that reactors 3 and 4 at Cernavodă could be another topic addressed during the upcoming visit to Washington.
“Obviously, in the coming years energy will be the center of economic concerns. So collaboration on the energy side, without discussion. As you know, an important objective of Romania is reactors 3 and 4 at Cernavodă, where there are some American companies, but it is not limited to that – and other matters of interest, but at the right time”. President Dan explained.
Asked about the American military presence, Nicușor Dan explained that this topic is constantly under discussion.
“A few months ago, rotational troops were withdrawn, but we have a significant American presence”the head of state added.
