A piece of gypsum of a shopping center in Sibiu broke off and fell on Monday, June 9, without anyone being injured. The management of the County Commissioner for the protection of the consulator sent several inspectors on the spot.

“In the afternoon of today, June 9, 2025, around 14.30, at Shopping City Sibiu, in Şelimbăr commune, Sibiu county, an incident took place on the access corridor between the shops. On a portion of 14 ml in length and 8 ml in the width, pieces of the CJIPS were detached. Sibiu went to the incident site“, Amalia Cindrea, Deputy Chief Commissioner CJPC Sibiu said on Monday night, writes News.ro.

The representatives of the shopping center took measures immediately after the incident.
“The representatives of Shopping City Sibiu immediately closed the affected area, cleaned the aisle and the pieces detached from the ceiling, replaced the piece that caused the incident, the circulation of consumers resumed shortly. “says Amalia Cindrea.
The administrator of the shopping center in Sibiu was called on Tuesday at the CJPC headquarters to give explanations on this incident.
“The CJPC Sibiu commissioners drafted an invitation for 10.06.2025, because the administrator of the economic operator was not present, the contracts and minutes of reception of all the installations that are in the ceiling were requested, the authorizations necessary for their operation, as well as all the documents necessary for the safe operation for consumers of the installations.
The explanation offered by the employees of the economic operator was that a piece of the fire extinguishing facility was damaged, infiltrating the water, which watered the gypsum plates that later broke”, States Amalia Cindrea.
