FCSB prevailed against Unirii Slobozia, score 2-0, in an extremely important match for the play-off fight. At 1-0 for the Romanian champions, a controversial moment occurred, when Daniel Șerbănica fouled Juri Cisotti. The referee initially called foul, but after consulting the video referee, the player was sent off.
At the end of the match, the eliminated player contested the card received. He stated that such pranks are only awarded in basketball, but also that the fate of the game would have been different if it had been played 11 on 11.
“We met a good team, which plays in European cups, and I think we had a good first half. My elimination came and there the game broke, 11 to 11 we would have resisted. I saw the replays, a simple hand on the opponent, he didn't escape alone, two colleagues had come next to me.
Only in basketball was fouled. The referee didn't say anything to me. It is clear that we are not going through a good period, individual mistakes also appear. The match with Metaloglobus is coming and we hope to get the three points. Then comes the winter break, I hope we calm down. It doesn't work out, I don't know, we need a victory to break the ice and for things to return to normal”, said Daniel Şerbănica, for Prima Sport.
Following this victory, Slobozia reached 9 consecutive defeats, while FCSB came within 2 points of the play-off.
Constantin Zotta, the former referee, drew conclusions on the foul
At the end of the game, Constantin Zotta, the refereeing specialist, emphasized the fact that at that stage there is a foul and a red card, the correct decision being elimination for the Slobozia player, Daniel Şerbănică.
“The one who sanctioned whether it's a free kick or not is the referee. He awarded a foul for FCSB. When it's a foul we see that Cisotti has no player who can intervene between him and the goalkeeper and could score. He has the ball under control, he has everything. It seems to me that the foul was given very easily. The position is a red card.
It's something, just the intensity. We know Cisotti knows how to fall, but I think he did well after that shot. There is something there with Şerbanica's left hand. He hits him. There are circumstances for the award of the free kick and then it is automatically red. He knows how to fall, he knows how to use the moment, he had the ball under control”, said Constantin Zotta, according to orangesport.ro.
