On the morning of Monday, June 2, three Greenpeace activists managed to evade the wax statue of President Emmanuel Macron in the famous Grévin Museum, located in the center of Paris.

According to the authorities, the people – two women and a man – entered the museum using a false identity, pretending to be tourists. Subsequently, after they changed, presenting themselves as employees of the museum, they stole the statue evaluated at about 40,000 euros and, hiding it under a blanket, left the museum through an emergency exit, thus avoiding security.

The statue was transported to Arondisment 16, where it was placed in front of the Russian Embassy in Paris, in protest against what Greenpeace considers to be a duplicity of the French government in relation to Ukraine, according to news.ro.

Jean-Francois Julliard, the general manager of Greenpeace France, explained that France “plays a double game” in the context of the conflict in Ukraine. Although officially supports Ukraine, French companies continue to do business with Russia, and Emmanuel Macron is seen as the symbol of this double game.

“For us, France plays a double game,” and “Emmanuel Macron embodies this double speech: says Ukraine, but encourages French companies to continue to trade with Russia,” said Jean-Francois Julliard, general director of Greenpeace France.

He stressed that the main responsibility rests with the French president, who should be a leader in European discussions to end trade with Russia.

“We are especially concerned with Emmanuel Macron, because he has a special responsibility in this situation.” (…) He should be the first in European discussions to end the commercial contracts between Russia and European countries ”, explained Jean-Francois Julliard.

The purpose of this action is to attract the attention of citizens, to put pressure on the French authorities for a firmer position in front of Russia.

We remind you that, earlier this year, Emmanuel Macron sued a plastic artist from Guadelupa, (French department from the eastern Caribbeans), after he exposed a painting that depicts the French head with the cut head.
