The Russian Foreign Minister, Sergei Lavrov, in informing the US Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, about the Russian preparation of concrete proposals for the next Russian-Ukrainian direct negotiations in Istanbul, informs the Russian State Agency, quoted by News.ro.

“The Minister informed Rubio about the progress made in the implementation of the agreements that Russian President Vladimir Putin and the US President Donald Trump, as well as the Russian preparation of specific proposals for the next round of Russian-Ukrainian direct negotiations in Istanbul,” said.

“Rubio, in turn, emphasized the emphasis placed by US President Donald Trump on the fastest conclusion of the Ukrainian conflict and expressed the availability of Washington to facilitate the approximation of the parties,” the Ministry of Sergei Lavrov informed.

The parties also addressed topical issues on the bilateral agenda.

Lavrov and Rubio have reaffirmed “the mutual desire to continue the constructive and mutually respectful dialogue between Russia and United States foreign ministries,” Moscow reports.

Lavrov had previously announced on Wednesday that a Russian delegation led by presidential adviser Vladimir Medinski was ready to present to Ukraine, in Istanbul, on June 2, the Russian memorandum on “all aspects of the deep causes of the crisis”.

On May 16, the delegations of Russia and Ukraine held direct discussions in Istanbul for the first time in 2022. Following the meeting, Moscow and Kiev agreed to exchange prisoners according to the formula “1,000 against 1,000”, to present their vision on a possible cessation of fire, explaining it in detail, and continuing the process. Medinski said the Russian part was satisfied with the result of the meeting. He also said that Ukraine asked direct discussions between the leaders of the states, and Moscow “considers this request”.

However, the Kremlin rejected Zelenski's proposal on Wednesday to have a face -to -face discussion between the Ukrainian leader, Vladimir Putin and Donald Tump.
