Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda asked the European Union on Tuesday to impose tougher sanctions in the context of the war that Moscow forces continue against Ukraine, DPA, quoted by Agerpres.
“(The head of the Russian state, Vladimir) Putin returns the whole world against him and deserves really harsher sanctions than the already existing ones,” Nauseda told Lithuania.
“I really hope that our colleagues in the European Union will understand that the 17th pack of sanctions was just a heating. We must prepare the 18th pack of sanctions, which resembles a Molotov cocktail,” he insisted.

The EU has adopted the latest anti-Russian sanctions last week. These include greater restrictions for the so-called Russian “ghost” fleet used for the transport of oil and petroleum products.
Already the following package of measures against Moscow is already prepared.
Lithuania, a former Soviet republic, now a member of NATO and the European Union, is one of the most vehement supporting of Ukraine on the international scene.
Unknown Russian attacks
Russia has launched large proportions against Ukraine in recent days, causing convictions from many countries. Including US President Donald Trump threatened Moscow with new sanctions and accused the Kremlin leader that he “went crazy” – evaluation with which Nauseda agreed.
“These are heavy words and a fully adequate statement, because we have been clear to us for a long time,” said the president of Lithuania.
Putin sent the Russian forces to invade Ukraine in February 2022, and the Ukrainians have since managed to defend and not capitulate, although the enemy has occupied some of the territory of their country.
