Marcel Boloș, former Minister of Finance in the first Government Ciolacu (June 2023-December 2024), said, in a statement for Antena 1, that he warned Marcel Ciolacu several times about the growing deficit, but the former prime minister would have said that it hurts “in the genital body”.

“When I told him” Mr. Prime Minister, the budget deficit goes to the head, “he told me that it hurts him in the genital body of the budget deficit,” said Marcel Boloș (PNL).

“Have you been there? Have you assumed?”

In reply, Marcel Ciolacu denied that he would have made this statement, saying that he did not usually speak. “I do not talk ugly to my colleagues, nor with close friends. I have many defects, but I do not have this defect,” said Ciolacu.

Boloș also said that he has a regret about his activity in Finance, namely that he did not resign, although he wrote it three times.

“The politicians are still alive,” Marcel Ciolacu commented.

The former Minister of Finance said that, in his defense, he sent repeated information to the prime minister related to the budget situation, the first time in August 2024, after which monthly information followed.

Another Minister of Finance, Adrian Câciu (PSD), who held the portfolio in the Ciuca government, says that Boloș is not entitled to now reproach the former prime minister. “Have you been there? Have you assumed? Go on!”, Said Căciu.

Ciolacu's details on the backup fund

Marcel Ciolacu referred to the relationship with his former Finance Minister Marcel Boloș and in a Facebook post in which he tried to justify the fact that his government spent a lot through the reserve fund.

“As can be seen, over 95% of the money is exclusively for operational expenses, and the highest weight is to support investments – the majority being those on European money!”, Wrote Marcel Ciolacu.

The former head of the Government says that the allocation of money through this mechanism, instead of the budget rectifications, was required by the liberal Marcel Boloș for “better control” of the administration.

“I mention that the Government's reserve fund did not stay in the” Pix of the Prime Minister “, but was administered directly by the Ministry of Finance, which also endorsed each Government Decision. The truth is that the 2024 Minister of Finance preferred the allocation of money from the reserve fund instead of the classical budgetary rectification, arguing that, for a good time, it has to be a good control, The decisions made ”, says Marcel Ciolacu.
