The head of the Fiscal Council, Daniel Dăianu does not believe in cutting 30 billion lei, until the end of the year, as President Nicuşor Dan had said. “I do not believe that. I do not believe. If you look at the structure of the public budget, you will notice that by far the bulk is held by salaries and pensions.

Daniel Dăianu said on Tuesday that those who support the thesis that the deficit correction can only be done on the expense side runs after a chimera and this is not possible. He also stated that this budget deficit is like a crab for the body of the Romanian economy and society and the substantial increase of the tax revenues, from a much better collection, is not possible.

“Those who support the thesis that the deficit correction can only be done on the expense side runs after a chimera. This is not possible. I speak based on the analysis we do at the Fiscal Council and on the basis of the judgments I have.

He said that “this budget deficit is like a crab for the body of the Romanian economy and society”.

“For years, the Romanian company has lived, on the budget chain, far beyond possibilities. It does not mean that the guilty is only the budget sector. This is stupid. Because the revenues of the budgets, the revenues of the teachers, the doctors, we are not talking only about the function of the ministries.

According to Dăianu, “the substantial increase in tax revenues, from a much better collection, is not possible.”

“Romania, at the moment, if it does not have a clear, credible, increase of the tax revenues, again, I repeat, this equation cannot be resolved, by cutting expenses. What I told Mr. President Bolojan is what I say, publicly,” he said. (News.ro)
