A huge project is taking shape in Pardubice, a city in the Czech Republic with approximately 92,000 inhabitants, comparable in Romania to Buzau. The hockey club HC Dynamo Pardubice is preparing the construction of one of the most modern multifunctional arenas in Central Europe.
Plans for the new Pardubice Multipurpose Hockey Arena were presented to the Czech media through a digital simulation, showing the impressive size of the project. It will cost over 400 million euros and should be ready by August 2027!

The new hall would have a capacity of more than 22,000 spectators at hockey matches, surpassing even the famous Bell Center arena in Montreal. For concerts and other events, the capacity could reach around 26,000 seats. Instead, for some regular-season games, certain sectors could be closed, reducing capacity to about 15,500 seats.

The project does not only include the construction of the hall. A whole new neighborhood would be developed around it, with several facilities:
The arena will also include spectacular elements, such as a giant display cube, a facade that will change colors according to events, and stairs made of LED screens. The VIP area will have a special glass-enclosed lounge, from where spectators will be able to see the players walking down the corridor between the locker rooms and the ice.
Built on a former landfill
The new arena would be built in the north-eastern part of the city of Pardubice, on the land of a former municipal landfill, which will be greened before the start of the works.
The total costs are estimated at around 10.5 billion Czech crowns, the equivalent of about 412 million euros. The local authorities are preparing the documents for the municipal council meeting at the end of March, when the final agreements needed to launch the project could be approved.
If the plans are fully implemented, the Pardubice arena could become one of the most important hockey centers in Europe, notes sport.aktuality.sk.
