The most sought after jobs offered to students during the holidays are, according to the specialized sites in the recruitment of the workforce: waiter, call-center operator, assistant in secretariat, waitress, cook aid, warehouse worker, commercial worker and barista.

Salaries up to 5,000 lei for teenagers

Young people can work since 15 years with parents' consent

In Romania, young people can be employed from the age of 15, with the written consent of parents or legal representatives, in jobs that are appropriate to their age. These activities must not endanger their health, to be adapted to their level of physical and mental development and not to affect their education. From 16 years, adolescents can work without the consent of parents, having full work capacity, according to the Labor Code. The employment of persons under the age of 15 is prohibited by law, with limited exceptions, such as certain artistic activities, for which a special opinion is required.

Labor legislation establishes, as a general rule, that for young people under 18 years of work time is maximum six hours a day and 30 hours a week. This norm cannot be overcome, and the Labor Code expressly provides that minors cannot work additional work.

“The salary of the minor employee with a program of 6 hours per day cannot be established below the level of the minimum gross salary on the economy. Minors cannot work at night and no dangerous or improper work or their physical skills. Companies employing students or students during the holidays can receive a monthly financial incentive equivalent to 50 percent of the value of the social reference indicator (ISR), respectively 330 lei for 2025.

According to the National Agency for Employment (AJOFM), employers must meet some conditions. The employment contract must be for a fixed period (equal to or shorter than the vacation). The incentive is granted for a maximum of 60 working days a year, being offered if the employment takes place during the official holiday.
