The Swedish Wallenberg family, owners of Astrazeneca or Saab, and the American NVIDIA chip manufacturer will build an AI factory in Sweden – Wallenberg Investments said on Saturday.


As reported, in the first phase the undertaking will consist of launching two AI supercomputers, NVIDIA DGX SuperPod with the latest generation of Grace Blackwell GB300. Access to high computing power is to enable the business environment to accelerate such processes as learning AI models.
Then, in connection with this investment, the creation of the AI Technology and Development Center was announced, where NVIDIA will offer practical training and access to company experts.
Investing in the most modern AI infrastructure is a key step towards accelerating the development and adoption of artificial intelligence throughout the Swedish industry – emphasized the head of Wallenberg Investments, Marcus Wallenberg.
According to the statement in the creation of the Swedish center, the company belonging to the Wallenberg family: Astrazeneca (Drugs), Ericsson (telecommunications), Saab (reinforcement), as well as SEB (banking) will get involved. Each of these companies is to use the power of supercomputers to develop their activities.
No other details were disclosed, including the value of the investment or its location.
On Saturday, a visit to Sweden is made by the president of Nvidia Jensen Huang in connection with the awarding of him by the University of Linkopeping the title of doctor honorary. In this city there are Gripen Battle Aircraft Saab.
The Wallenberg family is considered the most influential family of financiers and investors in Sweden. According to the media, it indirectly controls one third of the Swedish GDP. The finance family has shares in the largest Swedish and international companies, such as: Ericsson, Saab, Electrolux, ABB and Stora Enso. One of the largest Scandinavian SEB banks, founded in 1856 by Andre Oscar Wallenberg, also belongs to the family.
