The 69th edition of the Eurovision competition, which will take place between May 13 and 17 in Basel, in Switzerland.

After the two semifinals that will take place on May 13 and 15, the final of the 69th edition of the Eurovision contest will take place on Saturday, May 17, 2025 in Basel, in Switzerland. Romania and the Republic of Moldova will not participate in the competition this year.

According to betting houses, Sweden and Austria are the favorite countries to win this year's edition, according to Sortir A Publication.

The five favorites

Sweden: Kaj – “Bada Bastu”

Kevin Holmström, Axel Ahman and Jakob Norgard form the Kaj trio, considered to be the great favorite of the 2025 edition of Eurovision. Kaj was formed in 2009 in Finland, being the first Finnish group representing Sweden at Eurovision.

Since their song, “Bada Bastu Bar”, has been revealed to the public, Kaj is considered to have the first chance to win the competition, with 35% (on May 9), according to betting houses.

Austria: JJ – “Wasted Love”

JJ (by the real name Johannes Pietsch) is an Austrian-Filipine contravenor, who grew up in Dubai before discovering classical music in Vienna. With the song “Wasted Love”, he is in second place according to the bookmakers, which credits him with 22%.

France: Louane – “Maman”

The singer and actress Louane (on her real name Anne Peichert), 28, will compete for France with the song “Maman”. This is credited with 8% chance of winning.

Israel: Yuval Raphael – “New Day Will Rise”

Yuval Raphael, the representative of Israel is listed with the fourth chance, with the ballad “New Day Will Rise”. She started her singer's career only recently, in 2024. Yuval Raphael is a survivor of the Hamas attack on October 7, 2023.

The Netherlands: Claude – “C'est La Vie”

Pop artist Claude Kiambe, known as Claude, was born in 2003 in the Congo Democratic Republic and arrived in the Netherlands as a refugee at the age of 9. “C'est La Vie” is interpreted in English and French, and the lyrics evoke Claude's mother and her family's resistance.

Romania does not participate for the second consecutive year in the Eurovision competition. The last winner of the contest was Nemo, the representative of Switzerland, with the song “The Code”.
