Former prime minister and interim president of South Korea, Han Duck-Soo, ended a short and uninspired test to win the Conservative Party for presidential elections, after internal disputes that took place just a few weeks before the poll, reports Reuters, taken over by Agerpres.

Finally, his rival Kim Moon-Soo remained the candidate of the People's Party's Party after the party members voted on Saturday to keep them in the Han's determination, whose late entry into the competition derailed the consensus regarding the party candidate for the presidential vote on June 3.

On Sunday, Han said he “accepts everything with submission” and hopes that Kim will win the early elections, which were triggered by the accusation of the former president of the country.

Kim has registered his candidacy on Sunday morning and is now the candidate of the Conservative Party in the fight against the favorite candidate, Lee Jae-Myung, who is applying from the Democratic Party, now in opposition.

Han and Kim fought for unity in the last week and held a series of discussions-failed-to unite their campaigns and to avoid dividing votes among Conservatives.

Lee is a clear favorite for the replacement of former conservative president Yoon Suk Yeol, who was dismissed in April for violating his duties because, in December, the martial law said for a short time.

Kim, who had been appointed as a candidate of conservatives in a party convention a week ago, resisted the pressures to set aside in Han's favor. The latter refused to participate in the party's nomination process while he was still in the position of prime minister.
