Do you need a permit for a windbreaker?
The provisions on having and moving with windbreak are unambiguous. These issues are regulated by the Act on weapons and ammunition of 1999.
“In the meaning of the Act, a pneumatic weapon is a device dangerous to life or health, which as a result of compressed gas is able to launch a bullet from a barrel or an element replacing it and thus capable of raising the target at a distance, and the kinetic energy of the missile leaving the barrel or the element replacing it exceeds 17 J” – reads in the regulations.
So the key is the energy with which the missile leaves the barrel. If it does not exceed 17 J, permission is not required. Such equipment can be bought by minors, also via the Internet.
The situation is different when the bullet energy exceeds 17 J. This is classified as a pneumatic weapon. It can only be purchased by an adult, and only in a stationary store. The owner has five days from the purchase to submit a application for registration. The application should be accompanied by, among others Medical and psychological certificates and a document confirming non -criminal record.
