After almost six decades of operations, the production of Löwensenf mustard in Düsseldorf will be completed. The owner of the brand, Develey Senf & Feinkost GmbH, announced that the plant will end operations by the end of 2025-informs the German website t-online.de.

The Löwensenf mustard factory in Düsseldorf has been operating for almost 60 years. Since 2001, its owner is Develey Senf & Feinkost GmbH – a producer of world -famous mustard, mayonnaise and sauces.
According to the board of the group, continuing production in the current place “There is no prospects”, That is why he announced the termination of the plant's activities by the end of this year. Therefore, 54 people will lose their work – 40 from production and 14 from the administrative department.

The brand will not disappear

Löwensenf was founded in 1903 in French Metz, and after World War I was moved to Düsseldorf. In 1920, it introduced the first Extra Scharf mustard in a modern glass packaging with a vacuum closure.

Currently, the brand is known all over the world for many types of mustard, and the most famous are Dijon, Miodowa and Bavarian. Develey, however, ensures that the trademark of Löwensenf will be preserved. Mustard with the company logo will be produced all the time based on original recipes in other group's plants. In turn, in Düsseldorf, the brand's brand store will still be operating.

A company with an 180-year history

Develey is a German food company based in Unterhaching, in Bavaria, founded in 1845 by Johann Conrad Develey. From the small manufacture of mustard in Munich, it developed in one of the leading manufacturers of mustard, sauces, dressing and other spices, exporting its products to over 65 countries around the world. The company has 18 factories in 10 countries, including Germany, France, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Austria, Russia, Turkey, the USA and Italy. The company also has its own plant in Warsaw.
