Interim President Ilie Bolojan sent a message on the occasion of the day of Europe, in particular, to young people. “It has been 18 years since Romania became a member of the Union,” the interim president said, who then emphasized for young people the benefits of belonging to the Community Bloc.

In the message transmitted by the Presidential Administration that is addressed to Romanians and young people, Ilie Bolojan speaks of the importance of Romania's belonging to the European Union.

“This year is 18 years old since Romania became a member of the Union. It was one of the most important decisions we made as a country, because, since then, Romania has taken real steps for development, stability and modernization. We have had access to investments, to projects that have transformed our communities, to funds that made the modernization of the hospitals, of the school, of the school, of the school, of the roads, of the roads.

He also reminds what the European Union means for young Romanian – access to quality education, Erasmus+programs, equal opportunities, respect and safety.

“For young people, Europe means much more than the freedom to travel. It means access to quality education anywhere in the Union. It means programs like Erasmus+, which offers real opportunities for personal and professional development. It means equal opportunities and the possibility to build your future, here or anywhere in Europe, with respect, safety and guaranteed rights,” the interim president reports.

Ilie Bolojan says that without the values of the European Union, that is, democracy, rule of law, freedom and solidarity, Romania would have been more vulnerable and more isolated.

Finally, Bolojan urges young people to get involved, not only on Europe Day, but every day:

“Dear young, your voice matters. By ideas, by involvement, by vote. Not only on Europe Day, but every day. Europe is built every day, and you are the ones who will take this project further.”
