An unprecedented extension is prepared for the most popular AI app

Openai announces that it will extend the project of Stargate data centers outside and new versions of Chatgpt, adapted to various large countries will be created.

More and more data centers for AI applications

The company announced the project called “Openi for Countries” in a blog post, presenting it as a way to spread to as many countries as possible the “safe and democratic” artificial intelligence.

Openai claims that several countries have said that they will have their own Stargate project, and the development of such a project could contribute to the development of those states.

“We want to support these countries and, in this process, to spread democratic artificial intelligence, which means the development, use and implementation of the AS that protects and incorporates consecrated democratic principles. Examples in this regard include people's freedom to choose how to collaborate and how to direct it, to prevent the use of a government to accumulate, Real competition. ”, Say the company.

Openai also says that it will create personalized versions of Chatgpt for citizens of certain big countries, states that have not yet been nominated. It is not clear whether these versions will be identical to the internationally available chatgpt, but it is expected to be similar:

“This will contribute to the improvement of health and education services, to the efficiency of public services and not only. It will be a created by, for and depending on the needs of each country, located for their language and culture and in accordance with future global standards,” says Openai.

Financial Times wrote about extension, citing Chris Lehane, vice president of Openai global business. He presented the plan as a way in which the US can use their technological advance in the field of artificial intelligence, to provide a clear alternative to China.

Lehane said that political leaders in France, the United Kingdom and Germany have expressed interest in developing new data centers, and the Financial Times had previously reported that Openai analyzes the possibility of an investment in the United Kingdom.

So far, the Stargate project means only a partially built data center in Ablene, Texas, but Openai promotes Stargate in other countries, in addition to the massive commitments taken in the US.

The BGR publication notes that, although in theory the initiative sounds good, there is a real danger: it could provide OpenAI a level of power and influence that would make it almost impossible to face competing applications. These partnerships could strengthen the dominant position of Chatgpt, which can mean, if in -depth investigations will be opened, a violation of competition laws.

Stargate, a huge project

The Stargate project was announced in January, and Trump cataloged it as “the biggest project in history”. The total amount promised to be invested is $ 500 billion, with a first stage of $ 100 billion.

Stargate focuses on the construction of data hosting and processing centers, the famous “Data Center” (Data Centers). A consistent part of the investment will go towards the installation of expensive and complex energy systems that will feed these centers.

The first financing “installment”, $ 100 billion, will come from (at least) four sources: Openai, Oracle, SoftBank (Japanese company that has invested a lot in technology) and MGX (an investment fund from the United Arab Emirates). Technologies from several famous partner companies will also be used: Microsoft, Nvidia and ARM.

Three key developments will be to be followed at this great infrastructure project of the AI: the way the project will “sail” among the increasing tensions of the main players in technology, if it can fulfill its ambitious promises to create jobs and, most importantly, how it will establish a balance for the supremacy of artificial intelligence and for an increasingly responsible development.

Above all comes the open discussion by the Chinese from Deepseek, who had announced the development of AI models at low lower costs and in America there were voices who said that the approach must be changed and everything must be developed at lower costs.
