The tetanus causes toxin bacteria Clostridium Tetani, which affects the human nervous system. You can bring an infection into the body by injured with rusty metal or object, which before that were contacted with soil, organic fertilizers, animal feces.
The tetanus is manifested by an increase in temperature and a general malaise, pulsating pain at the place of damage. In the muscles adjacent to the wound, light convulsions appear, a spasm of chewing and facial muscles, and then painful convulsions gradually cover the whole body. As a result, a person has opistotonus – a convulsive pose in which the back is bent, the head throws back.
You can only protect against tetanus with timely vaccination. It is carried out for children aged 3, 4.5 and 6 months, then revaccination is carried out at 1.5 years, 7 and 14 years old. After that, it is necessary to carry out repeated vaccination every 10 years throughout life.
Doctors advise when receiving an injury to immediately rinse the wound 3% hydrogen peroxide, and then contact the clinic or emergency room for surgical wound treatment and emergency prevention.
