The publication states that the European commission will try to change the position of Orban until the fall, and if this does not succeed, then the first negotiation cluster as part of the process of joining the European Union will open only for Moldova.
The EP hopes that the US President Donald Trump can affect Orban.
“For Viktor Orban, good relations with the American leader are one of the fundamental elements of the image that he” sells “to both his voters and other EU politicians. […] Already, the US President calls Ukraine to join the European Union one of the elements in his plan of the world. And Orban, it turns out, is destroying Trump’s plan with his actions, ”the authors of the publication emphasize.
They suggest that in June, at the NATO Summit, Trump will personally ask Orban to “stop this circus and remove the veto from Ukraine” – and this can become a “decisive drop” for the actions of the Hungarian politician.
Now the representatives of Brussels are constantly in contact with Orban, putting pressure on him on European integration of Ukraine.
“European Pravda” believes that the EU can make concessions to Orban and “break” the process of joining the European Union of Moldova and Ukraine.
“The reason is the decisive parliamentary elections in Moldova, which will take place on September 28. [Президент] Maya Sandu and the PAS leading party made European integration their election trump card. […] But the voter will definitely not believe in the speedy entry of Moldova to the EU if the government does not show at least some victory on this track. And in Brussels they want to give Sandu this victory, ”the media said.
According to their authors, Chisinau “has no other trump cards”, except for European integration of Moldova.
This scenario is known to representatives of Ukraine, but Kyiv is not ready for the sake of this to support the scenario of the division of the “package”.
Sources of the EP among Ukrainian diplomats are “optimistic in assessments.”
A few months ago, Kyiv knew about the conversations between the EU members about the possibility of separating the package of Ukraine and Moldova, and then “it was possible to stop it,” the interlocutors of journalists say.
