The PNL National Political Bureau has unanimously decided to support the independent candidate Nicușor Dan in the 2nd of May elections on May 18, according to HotNews.ro sources.

The decision comes after the candidate of the Liberals in the coalition with the PSD and the UDMR, Crin Antonescu, failed to qualify in the second round of the presidential elections, where George Simion and Nicușor Dan will face.

Prior to the vote at the meeting, the interim president of the PNL, Cătălin Predoiu, told the journalists present at the party headquarters that two topics will propose in the party meeting: the position against the support of George Simion or Nicușor Dan and the position towards the government.

“I will propose to the office two topics to discuss. The first, related to the position towards the presidential campaign and the second round of the presidential elections, respectively to the two candidates. The second related to the position of the government. We leave in both discussions from our principles, from our values, from the political logic to continue in the new context. I will give after talking to my colleagues, “Predoiu said.

PSD president, Marcel Ciolacu, said on Monday that he will propose to the party the exit from the government and his resignation from the position of prime minister.
