We look at her with emotion, we are proud of her – said the president about the Polish flag during the Belvedere ceremony. He thanked Poles living abroad for remembering the white and red colors and passing Polish culture further.

On Friday, May 2, the Flag Day of the Republic of Poland and the Polonia Day and Poles outside the country are celebrated. President Andrzej Duda and his wife Agata Kornhauser – Duda celebrated both of these dates during the ceremony in the courtyard before the Belvedere. During it, the president handed state decorations to Polish diaspora activists, acts of giving Polish citizenship and state flags to organizations distinguished in social, cultural and economic activities in the country and abroad.

In his speech, the president pointed out that the history of the colors of the Polish flag dates back to the 10th century. He also referred to Bolesław the Brave's coronation celebrated in last weeks and stated that it was the banner and colors of the Kingdom of Poland that “became the foundation” of Poland's current national colors.

In this context, the president mentioned the banners located in the banner in the Presidential Palace. “On the one hand, we have a banner of the Kingdom of Poland, a great Krakow banner, red with a white eagle, next to the banner of the Polish -Lithuanian Commonwealth, where the Polish white eagle is next to the Lithuanian pursuit – a rider rushing on a horse,” he said.

“The red color is the color of the background, i.e. the coat of arms. So, in fact, we can confidently say and we say that our colors have their deep heraldic background as one of the few state colors in the world,” the president noted. He also reminded that white and red were established as national colors by the Sejm of the Kingdom of Poland in 1831, in 1919 – as the colors of the emblem.

During the speech, the president also pointed to historical events related to Polish colors, reminding that it was under the white and red flag that the Warsaw Battle was fought, and in the Warsaw Uprising “White and red bands were a sign of warriors fighting for a free, independent Poland.”

“This white and red colors have become the colors of the Solidarity flags, we always go under these colors, we sing our anthem under these colors. It is the white and red flag that rises to the mast, when our athletes win in world rank competitions. We look at her with emotion, we are proud of her,” he said.

He also admitted that repeatedly, being outside the country, he was emotionally looking at houses decorated with protein-red colors as “houses in which families feel their relationship with Poland and Polishness.”

“Thank you for all beautifully, in white and red colors decorated rooms in which we had the honor and pleasure (…) to meet in (…) many places around the world (…)

During the ceremony, the first lady Agata Kornhauser-Duda also took the floor, who summed up the activities as part of the “Helping Poles in the East” campaign in 2016-2025. “This is an action that has no material dimension, but above all is important for building our national community, because it integrates Poles living in the country, as well as those who are scattered all over the world. It strengthens the sense of unity and belonging,” she emphasized.

She thanked everyone who co -founded the action for 9 years. “First of all, our sponsors and donors who are present with us today. It was thanks to you that we were able to initiate the action and develop it for 9 years. Until now, from 2016, help has been found to Poles in several dozen cities in Armenia, Belarus, Estonia, Georgia, Lithuania, Latvia, Kazakhstan, Moldova, Romania, Russia, Russia and Ukrainian.” She noticed.

She noted that the action could not be implemented in such a wide way, were it not for the help of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, subordinate to him diplomatic missions, as well as Polish diaspora organizations that helped distribute help. She also thanked the Ministry of National Defense and his military units for help in organizing transports and securing these transports, especially those directed to Ukraine.

“And finally, I would like to thank all our colleagues from the Chancellery of the President, because it is thanks to you, beloved, this action developed so great,” she said.

A address of Polonia, she said: “I deeply believe that the action also contributed to the strengthening of the bond between us, and that for the state, the awareness of the state is the awareness that Rzeczpospolita always remembers the state.”

Earlier that day, the presidential couple took part in the festival of raising the flag on the clock tower of the Royal Castle.

President Andrzej Duda also referred to the Friday holiday on the portal X. “Let the White and Red connect us – above the borders, above the divisions – in the name of free, strong and just Poland. Let him flutter proudly – as a sign of the past we worship, the present we create, and the future we are responsible for,” he wrote. “

Kosiniak-Kamysz: Safety is combined under white and red

Safety is connected under white and red-said on Friday in Warsaw during the celebration of the Flag Day of the Republic of Poland, the head of the Ministry of National Defense Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz. He assessed that this is “a very strong signal for our enemies that Poland is united in the face of threats.”

“This is an extraordinary day. Once again with the President's participation, we meet before the Royal Castle in Warsaw to worship and honor to our national colors, which are common, which are common, which accompany us in all the most important moments, from birth to those moments that are extremely sublime, key,” said Kosiniak -Kamysz.

As he said, “she was white and red with us when she was born independent.” “She was when we fought for the freedom of Warsaw, Poland, Europe and the world in the 20th century, she accompanied in every battle, she is stuck in many places for Monte Cassino, she is always with us, it is ours, common, it is something community,” he emphasized.

He thanked the president “for 10 years of cultivating this great tradition.” “Let's be proud of our colors, let's be proud of our achievements, from what is common,” he added.

The head of the Ministry of National Defense noted that “security is connected under white and red.” “And this is for our enemies, opponents, for all those who come to our security, a very strong signal today that Poland is united in the face of threats, in the face of taking care of its security. This is a common denominator that connects everything” – he emphasized.

As part of the ceremony, a parade and a parade drill show took place at Zamkowy Square. The Polish Army Representative Orchestra also had its performance.

Polonia and Poles' Day is celebrated on May 2 since 2002. The state holiday was established by the Sejm of the Republic of Poland on the initiative of the Senate of the Republic of Poland. In this way, people living outside of Poland were honored, who sought Polish independence and expressed their attachment to the Commonwealth.

In turn, the Flag Day celebrated on May 2 was established in 2004. Historically, Polish national colors come from the colors of the coat of arms of the Kingdom of Poland and the coat of arms of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania. In the symbolism of the Polish flag, Biel comes from the white of the eagle, which is the emblem of Poland and the White of Pogoń – a knight galloping on a horse – the emblem of Lithuania. Both emblems are on the red backgrounds of the coat of arms. On our flag, white was at the top, because in Polish heraldry the color of the emblem is more important than the background. (PAP)
