As Reuters reported on Friday, Sweden declared support worth USD 100 million. — Sweden remains in solidarity with Ukraine […] we are prepared to take further steps to strengthen Ukraine's defense capabilities. Air defense and munitions are crucial for Ukraine to defend itself against Russian attacks, said Swedish Defense Minister Pal Jonson.

PURL. Billions of dollars in support for Ukraine
As part of the next PURL package, the Netherlands, Norway, Great Britain and Sweden will provide Ukraine with aid worth a total of USD 500 million. In 2025, Ukraine signed a letter of intent to purchase 150 Gripen-E multi-role aircraft from Sweden. In 2026, the first Gripen machines are expected to be delivered to the Ukrainian army (for now, the older C/D versions).
Under the PURL mechanism, launched in August 2025, NATO countries finance the purchase of weapons and ammunition from American stocks and then transfer these weapons to Ukraine. This initiative is intended to ensure Ukraine's ability to continue to resist the Russian attack at a time when the US has suspended direct military aid to the country.
The PURL (*Prioritized Ukraine Requirements List*) mechanism was launched in August 2025. In total, the allies have so far allocated over USD 4.5 billion for this form of support.

On Wednesday, Great Britain also declared support for the PURL initiative. Defense Minister John Healey announced that the country will allocate £150 million (over $200 million) for this purpose. “Together we must provide Ukraine with the vital air defense it needs in response to Putin's brutal attack,” Healey wrote in a statement quoted by Reuters.
