According to the State Energy Corporation of Indonesia, Perusahaan Listrik Negara, the shutdown of light in a number of Bali areas occurred at 16.00 local time (11.00 in Kyiv).
Several flights were detained, but the local airport continued to accept and send planes. For this, reserve generators were included, said the general director of Ahmad Ahmad, Xiauga Shahab.
Electricity supplies began to be resumed after a few hours. First, they took up the main objects of infrastructure (government buildings, hospitals, airport and hotels).
According to the speaker of the President of Indonesia Prabovo, Subianto Prasetio Hadi, the shutdown of light entailed damage to the underwater cables connecting the Bali island power supply system.
The Bali Sun, citing statistics, wrote that in 2024 the island visited more than 6 million tourists.
Context
Recently, the light disappeared in a number of other countries. On April 28, a large -scale power outage occurred in Spain and Portugal. It also affected part of France and Andorra. As a result, there were malfunctions in the work of public transport, airports, traffic lights, hospitals and partially mobile communications.
According to Euronews, one of the probable reasons for the disconnection was a fire in the south-west of France, which damaged the high-voltage line between Perpignan and the Eastern Narbonny, as well as problems with the European power grid. Also, the probabilities of cyber attacks were also not ruled out. Another reason was called a “rare atmospheric phenomenon”, but subsequently Prime Minister of Spain Pedro Sanchez said that the causes of Blackout are not yet known.
