The prosecutor's office spoke about a Norilsk family in which a baby died of hunger

A resident of Norilsk, who abandoned her four children in an apartment for several days, as a result of which one of them died of exhaustion, was brought to administrative responsibility for improper performance of parental responsibilities. The prosecutor's office of the Krasnoyarsk region reported this.

Let us remind you that in mid-December, a 35-year-old unemployed woman left home to stay with a friend, leaving A 5-month-old boy and girls 1 and 2 years old under the care of a 15-year-old daughter from her first marriage. The woman did not take care of feeding the children and did not spend the night at home for several days. On December 17, the eldest daughter called her mother, after which she called an ambulance because the boy was not breathing. Doctors declared his death, citing exhaustion due to prolonged fasting as the preliminary cause.

The younger girls were taken to the hospital and are receiving the necessary medical care. The eldest was placed in a social shelter.

During the prosecutor's investigation, it turned out that in November of this year the mother of the children was brought to administrative responsibility for improper performance of parental responsibilities, since her 15-year-old daughter did not attend school. In this regard, the family was placed on departmental registration with the MBU “Social and Educational Center”.

“The 9th grade student continued to skip classes and in December, when visiting her family, it turned out that the children were locked in the apartment and the mother was absent from home. At the same time, no measures have been taken to protect the rights of minors; specialists limited themselves to talking with children through the door. In addition, the woman did not come to the clinic with the baby for preventive examinations. The medical institution reported this to the local commission for minors’ affairs and protection of their rights,” the prosecutor’s office said.

It is also known that the family lives on social benefits. The father of three younger children has been serving a sentence in a correctional facility since January 2025 for beating a woman and her 15-year-old daughter.

The prosecutor's office has organized an inspection, during which an assessment will be made of the actions and inactions of the preventive system authorities in working with this family. A criminal case initiated against a mother for the murder of a minor in a helpless state, committed with extreme cruelty (clauses “c”, “e”, part 2 of article 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) was taken under special control.
