A 12-year-old cat survived after falling into a 115-meter deep canyon together with her two masters, who both died, an Association for Animal Protection, according to AFP on Thursday.
The feline “was found in a black, dirty and scratched black transport cage, which seems to have resisted pretty well,” said Best Friends Society in a statement.
The animal was rescued on Tuesday night from the Bryce canyon, located in a national park in the state of Utah, next to the inanimate bodies of its two masters, identified as Matthew Nannen, 45, and Bailee Crane, 58, according to local sheriff's office.
The couple died between Monday and Tuesday, the sheriff said in a statement.
The cat, now baptized “Mirage”, was placed by authorities in the care of Best Friends Animal Society.
“She was a little grieved, but she was friendly when she was examined and drank and ate alone,” the organization said.
