Miriam Bulgaru (27 years, 219 WTA) was defeated in the quarterfinals of the WTA 125 tournament in Buenos Aires by Panna Udvardy (27 years, 107 WTA), the number 3 favorite, 6-1, 6-2.

Miriam Bulgaru performed this week at the WTA 125 tournament in Buenos Aires, played on clay. The Romanian stopped in the quarter-finals, defeated by Panna Udvardy of Hungary 6-1, 6-2 in one hour and two minutes.

Until this phase, Miriam Bulgaru had passed Irene Burillo (28 years old, 172 WTA) from Spain 7-5, 6-0 and Maria Carle (25 years old, 137 WTA) from Argentina 7-6 (4), 6-3.

Miriam Bulgaru has 125 WTA tournaments in her record

Miriam Bulgaru secured a $4,000 check and 27 WTA points. She contested the eleventh tournament of this category in 2024, the highest reaching the quarterfinals in Queretaro (Mexico) and now in Buenos Aires.

WTA 125 tournaments are a fair option to collect money and points. They were included in the WTA circuit in 2012 under the title of the Challenger series, a name similar to that of the ATP. They sit just below the top points and money tournaments, but they also offer decent rewards.

This year, Anca Todoni and Jaqueline Cristian prevailed in such singles tournaments, the first in Antalya and Bari, the second in Puerto Vallarta. Among the Romanian players, Anca Todoni and Irina Begu have the most triumphs in these tournaments, with four trophies each. Miriam Bulgaru also has a WTA 125 tournament under her belt, won in 2024, in Bucharest.

In 2025, only three WTA 125 tournaments will be played: in Quito (1-7 December) on clay, in Angers (1-7 December) on hard and in Limoges (8-14 December) on hard.
