Former coach Victor Pițurcă stated that FCSB will become a favorite to win the championship, if they manage to qualify for the play-offs at the end of the regular season.
Without a team since the beginning of 2020, Pițurcă believes that CFR Cluj is not strong enough to get a place in the top 6. He also talked about the departure of Mirel Rădoi from Craiova University.
Victor Pițurcă: “I think FCSB will come back, it's the team with the best squad”
“It's normal that it surprises the ranking once Botosani led a few stages, but they have a very good team and coach. They had a very good time, and now it has come Rapid from behind, also with a very good coach. So I think the championship is being played.
For CFR Cluj it's harder to come back. I don't even see them as a team, as a team, to come back, to enter the play-offs. Of course, the CFR team is more valuable than some teams that are in the play-offs at the moment.
FCSBI think it will come back. It also depends a lot on the next match. If they lose a point or points, it becomes difficult for them to enter the play-offs. 100% can hope for the title if they enter the play-offs, because the points will also be halved. It will be completely different, direct matches, different concentration. FCSB is still the team with the best squad, I say.
I think that Mirel Rădoi's departure from University of Craiova it is an advantage for the other teams. Too bad he left. You can't have that attitude and I used to tell him when he was a player. As a coach you have to be a fighter. He was an extraordinary fighter as a player and he must be the same as a coach,” said Pițurcă, according to fanatik.ro.
After 16 stages, FCSB is in 9th place, five points away from 6th place, the last play-off, occupied by Farul Constanța. CFR Cluj is on 12th, four points below the title champion of Romania.
