The judge ordered Trump's administration to restore the financing of Radio Free Europe

Judge Lamberth appointed by President Ronald Reagan suspended the temporary ban on the operations of the US Global Media Agency in order to pay money to April 2025 for RFE/RL until the claim was resolved to maintain the station on the air. The judge decided that the administration could not unilaterally withdraw the financing approved by the Congress.

Earlier, Lamberth agreed to block the administration the possibility of liquidating America's voice (VOA). Ruled that The administration unlawfully demanded to cease the activities of the radio station for the first time since its foundation during World War II.
Radio lawyers indicated that President Trump's administration terminated almost all contracts with independent journalists, did not fulfill their payments for lease and sent 122 employees on forced vacation. As RFE/RL lawyers warn, more radio employees will be sent for forced holidays, and more contracts canceled on May 1, if the financing is not restored.
Government lawyers argued that the judge has no jurisdiction regarding the dispute over the contract, which belongs to the court for federal claims.
Radio Free Europe/Radio Swoboda began broadcasting the program during the Cold War. It is currently broadcast in 27 languages in 23 countries of Eastern Europe, Central Asia and the Middle East. The headquarters of the radio was initially located in Munich. Since 1995, he has been in Czech Prague.
