Fire near Tehran: Columns of smoke observed near strategic targets


A fire broke out on Wednesday in the area of the city of Parand, located near the capital of Iran, Tehran. State media reported on the incident and published images of thick columns of smoke rising above the area, located near several military and strategic targets in Tehran province.

According to the information transmitted by the state media, the fire was observed in the area of the river in Parand. Images released show thick black smoke, visible from a distance, which has raised concerns in the context of the proximity of some sites considered sensitive.
Local authorities quickly intervened. “The black smoke seen near Parand town is the result of a fire in the reeds on the banks of the Parand river… firefighters are on the scene and the fire extinguishing operation is underway,” sent the Parand fire department, quoted by Reuters.

The representatives of the emergency services stated that the fire teams are on the scene and are working to extinguish the fire. So far, there have been no reports of casualties or significant property damage.
The authorities are continuing the operation to extinguish the fire, and the exact cause of the fire has not, until this moment, been officially announced.
