According to the interlocutors of the publication, we are talking about the Kvint format, in which, in addition to Ukraine, the United States, Italy, France, Great Britain and, possibly, Germany, which Olaf Scholz will represent at the ceremony in the Vatican. The Federal Government of Germany yesterday said that Scholz could hold bilateral negotiations with other heads of state and governments during his trip to Rome.
The publication writes that not everyone agrees with the need for such a summit. It is reported that both the Prime Minister of Italy George Meloni and the country's Foreign Minister Antonio Tayani expressed doubts that the summit could take place on the day of the funeral of the pontiff. Tayani expressed fears that this would be very difficult, including from the point of view of logistics due to many motorcade representatives of state.
According to the publication, the idea of the summit did not die completely, although it is obvious to everyone that the conditions for negotiations were significantly deteriorated. Where exactly the meetings will be held is still unclear. If these were informal, separate two -way meetings of Trump with various European leaders, they could be held in the residence of the US ambassador. Otherwise, the venue may be provided by the Italian government.
