Record conclave in the Vatican. The electors will choose Franciszek's successor

The date of the inauguration of the conclave is the currently most expected decision that cardinals encountered every day at general congregations. Their goal is to prepare the Pope's funeral and the choice of his successor.
It is not excluded that the date of the conclave can be announced only after the first meeting of the cardinals that will take place after the Saturday funeral of Francis.
For now, it is known that it will be a record conclave in terms of the number of its participants. There are currently 135 electors.
Francis, appointing cardinals during ten, during 12 years of his pontificate, he crossed the ceiling of 120 electors specified in 1975 by Paul VI and maintained by John Paul II.

Of the 135 cardinals entitled to participate in the selection of the Pope, two announced that he would not come to the Vatican due to health. Almost 80 percent of the electors are Franciszek's nominates. Among them is, as he notes, many supporters of his pontificate reformer line.
