Pełczyńska-Nałęcz: PLN 4 billion for Poland as part of Norwegian and EEA funds

EUR 925 million, or approx. PLN 4 billion, will go to Poland as part of contracts signed on Wednesday by the Minister of Funds and Regional Policy Katarzyna Pełczyńska-Nałęcz with representatives of Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein.


We signed contracts under the 4th edition of Norwegian funds and the European Economic Area (EEA) for 2021–2028 as the first country in the European Union and the largest beneficiary that receives a quarter of the investment pool – emphasized Pełczyńska -Nałęcz during Wednesday's ceremony at the Ujazdowski Castle in Warsaw.
Poland will receive EUR 925 million, or approx. PLN 4 billion – she pointed out. The ministry wants competitions under the 4th edition to start in January or February 2026 – the minister announced. She added that the money will be allocated to investments in green transformation, local cooperation, research and development and culture.
Thanks to Norwegian funds Poland, among others She warmed up about 100 schools, mentioned equipment in all forensic laboratories, published 100 patents and modernized various cultural and history facilities, e.g. the castle in Malbork – mentioned the head of the Ministry of Funds and Regional Policy (MFIPR).
The signing ceremony of intergovernmental contracts between Poland and Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein as part of the 4th edition of Norwegian and EEA funds for 2021–2028 took place at the Ujazdowski Castle in Warsaw. In addition to the head of the MFIPR, it was attended by: Prince of Crown Haakon, the successor of the Norway throne, Norway Minister Espen Barth Eide, permanent secretary of Iceland's state Martin Eyjólfsson and Ambassador Liechtenstein at the EU Pascal Schafhauser.
Prince Haakon: The bonds between Poland and Norway have never been so strong
The successor to the throne of Norway, Prince Haakon took part in the signing ceremony between Poland and Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein regarding Norwegian funds and the European Economic Area (EEA) for 2021–28.
“Poles are the largest group among immigrants and play an important role in all areas of life – in all Norwegian towns and cities,” Haakon noted.
Along with the successor of the Norwegian throne, representatives of the government in Oslo, responsible for industry, fisheries and defense came to Poland. There are also representatives of companies from the key branches of the economy for Norway: energy, defense and maritime sector. Prince Haakon drew attention in the speech, among others for cooperation in the fields of energy.
“The Baltic gas pipeline provides a significant part of Polish gas, and the Polish energy company Orlen is one of the largest operators in the Norwegian continental shelf, in addition, Equinor is developing renewable energy in Poland,” he pointed out.
He noted the importance of Norwegian funds for the natural environment, renewal of monuments, improving business cooperation and strengthening civil society.
“Poland is one of the most important allies and plays a key role in a common European effort in supporting and being solidarity with Ukraine,” said the successor of the throne of Norway. “There is no freedom without solidarity,” he emphasized.
The prince noted how important Norway and Poland's cooperation in NATO is. “I am proud that Norway was directly supported by the Polish logistics hub by providing NASAMS anti-aircraft defense sets and F-35 fighters and soldiers,” he emphasized.
The successor to the throne of Norway is taking a two -day visit to Poland. On Tuesday he was in Gdańsk, where he met, among others with the former president Lech Wałęsa. On Wednesday, in addition to signing contracts between Poland and Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein, he will meet with President Andrzej Duda. (PAP)
