The US dollar continued to depreciate on Monday, April 21, reaching the lowest level in the last three years, in the context of withdrawing investors from American assets.

Investors retreat against the background of escalating the conflict between President Donald Trump and the president of the federal reserve, Jerome Powell, transmits CNBC, quoted by News.ro.
The ICE US Dollar index, which reflects the evolution of the dollar in relation to a major currency basket, decreased to 97.92 – the lowest registered level in March 2022, according to factset data. Around 10:00 et, the index marks a decrease of 1.1%, to 98.24.
The decline of the American currency began since January 2025, with the taking over by Donald Trump, but accentuated at the beginning of April, with the introduction of mutual global tariffs.
The last round of impairment was fueled by the controversial statements of the president at Jerome Powell, which he called “The Lord too late” and “A great loser”, in a post on the Truth Social Platform.
The situation was aggravated by the announcement of the Economic Counselor at the White House, Kevin Hasset, who said the administration analyzes the possibility of replacing the current head of the federal reserve.
Considered a global reserve currency, the dollar has benefited in the last decade of investor confidence and the higher performance of American assets, but the increasing commercial tensions and uncertainties regarding the direction of American economic policy have led to significant decreases on the scholarships, affecting the national currency.
Against the background of these evolutions, the euro was appreciated by 1.3% on the dollar, and the Japanese yen and the Swiss franc have gained ground, which shows a tendency to migrate capital to coins considered safer.
