Greenland's Prime Minister Jens-Frederik Nielsen said he represented a proud nation committed to maintaining global order.

Head of the Danish Foreign Ministry: I do not intend to escalate the conflict with the US

The head of the Greenlandic government recalled that Greenland, Denmark and the USA were conducting talks after the January meeting in Washington. Nielsen did not rule out closer defense cooperation with the United States.

The head of Danish diplomacy, Lars Lokke Rasmussen, also commented on Trump's statement, stating that the US president had not given up on his vision for Greenland. The minister emphasized that “he has no interest in escalating the conflict with the US by expressing his opinion honestly about the use of words about Greenland.”

Trump's criticism of NATO

“Remember Greenland, that huge, mismanaged piece of ice,” wrote the US president, referring to NATO's opposition to handing Greenland over to the US.

Greenland is an autonomous territory of Denmark.
