German Chancellor Olaf Scholz ends his mission in the German government. On Wednesday, he visited Warsaw. “Chancellor Olaf Scholz ends his mission with a meeting in Warsaw, and Chancellor Friedrich Merz will start office with visits to Warsaw and Paris. Poland is today a key partner for all major forces in Europe. Whether you like it or not” – wrote Donald Tusk.
Olaf Scholz thanked the Polish Prime Minister for receiving in the capital. “We are connected by friendship. Dear Donald, thank you for a nice reception in Warsaw,” he wrote on X.
The farewell visit program has been limited to a minimum. Both politicians met for dinner. There is no press conference. The modest setting of the visit is a good illustration of the current state of Polish-German relations, and above all cool contacts between Tusk and Scholz.
– It is said that there is no chemistry between Tusk and Scholz, but it is something more – including with a different way of communication, which can mutually hinder understanding or irritation. Tusk does not give exile and emotional in social media on the same line as the balanced and scanty in communication of Scholz-said Agnieszka Łada-Konefał, deputy director of the German Institute of Polish Affairs (DPI) in Darmstadt.
