The Democratic Governor of the US state Pennsylvania, Josh Shapiro, announced on Sunday that his official residence was set on fire last night, which led to the evacuation of his family from the building, reports Reuters.

“Last night, around 2 o'clock in the morning, I and my family woke up hearing the door from the Pennsylvania State Police, after an incendant set fire to the Governor in Harrisburg,” the official revealed in a post on social networks. “Thank God that no one was injured and the fire was extinguished,” Josh Shapiro continued.

Shapiro is considered a potential competitor in the future internal race for the nomination of the Democratic candidate in the presidential elections of 2028.

“Although the fire was successfully extinguished, it caused significant damage to a part of the residence,” said Pennsylvania State Police, the department that investigates the situation.

“Although the investigation is ongoing, the state police are ready to declare at this time that it was an arson,” the institution said.

Last night, before the fire, governor Josh Shapiro, who is a Jew, posted on social networks about Seder Dinner, a festive meal that marks the beginning of Pesah – Easter.

“Every day, we are with the law enforcement forces and the first response, which runs to danger to protect our communities,” said the Governor of the State Pennsylvania. “Last night, they did it for our family-and Lori and I are eternally grateful because they kept us safe,” said Josh Shapiro.
