A 74-year-old man ended up in a coma at the hospital, after being kicked and punched by the manager of a stall in Piata Obor following a spontaneous conflict. The aggressor was remanded in custody for 30 days.
The police were alerted on Friday, November 22, by calling 112, by a 64-year-old woman who complained that her partner had been assaulted in the square in Sector 2, the Capital Police announced in a press release.
According to the law enforcement officers, the man was kicked in the body area and later punched in the face area by the administrator of a household goods stand.
“From the administered evidence, it emerged that, on November 22, 2025, around 3:00 p.m., while carrying out his commercial activity, as a stand manager, in a market in Sector 2, against the background of a spontaneous conflict with the injured person, he physically assaulted her, kicking her in the body area and later, punching her in the face area, the latter losing her balance and collapsing to the floor, causing traumatic injuries that put his life at risk”, reported the Capital Police.
A medical team gave him first aid, and later the man was transported to Floreasca Hospital. Injuries were preliminarily evaluated at 50-55 days of medical care.
The 74-year-old man is hospitalized in a coma, sources from the investigation told HotNews.ro.
The investigations continue under the coordination of the Public Prosecutor's Office attached to the 2nd District Court, for abusive behavior, bodily harm and disturbance of public order and peace.
