The City Hall of Argelès-Gazost, a town in southwestern France, banned the American brand Coca-Cola at his events to denounce the commercial policy of the US president, according to Le Figaro.
The town with 2,800 inhabitants of the Pyrénées-Atlantiques region decided to ban the famous drinks at the events organized by the town hall, in favor of local drinks.
“The decision was made as a symbolic gesture of response to Trump's aggressive commercial policy and, above all, to promote our local products,” said Gaëlle Vallin, the chosen representative, for the French television TF1.
According to the local press, the Municipal Councilor had the idea of banning Coca-Cola in favor of local products at an organized ceremony on March 19.
The measure became a reality when Donald Trump announced customs tariffs for European countries, which would have a clear impact on certain French production chains. Although the tariffs were finally suspended, calls to the boycott of American products have multiplied on social networks.
