Nicușor Dan, an independent candidate for the presidential elections, told B1 TV on Friday night, that the USR decision to support him, to the detriment of Elena Lasconi, does not automatically propel it in the May 18 final. On the other hand, the mayor of the capital believes that “it is difficult to be in the skin” to be in the skin “, freshly left without support by his own party.
Asked how he sees the situation in the USR, he said: “I think the issue is very serious, in the sense that, of course, we have a campaign carried out by a person who worked a lot, Mrs. Lasconi, and in a personal level it is difficult to be in your skin, so this is certain. Simion-Ponta, two people who have shown that they have no great attachment to Western values. “
When asked “how many votes” he thinks he will take after the USR position change, Nicușor Dan said that “there are also polls on this subject”, but avoided responding concretely.
“I think the most important thing is that the waters were finally separated, that is, we have isolationists, or Russia (…), here we have the parties we know and have two candidates, Ponta, Simion (…). Western – and here I think I am the representative candidate ”, continued Nicușor Dan.
Asked if he thinks that the USR decision to support him automatically projects him in the May 18 presidential final, Nicușor Dan replied: “No, by no means (…).
“Obviously it is an emotional moment. Obviously, Mrs. Lasconi, as I said earlier, personally, would not like to be on her skin. On the other hand, I repeat, we do not talk about a job that a person takes. We are talking about the direction when Romania goes,” said Nicușor Dan.
USR announced this week that he withdraws the support of Elena Lasconi, the leader of the formation, and will support Nicușor Dan in the presidential race. The party blocked the financing of Lasconi's campaign.
