The deposit system in two weeks. The resort explains doubts

The deposit system is to enter into force on October 1 this year. “The deposit will be added to the price by all points of sale with drinks covered by the deposit system. The packaging is to be returned with a label, which contains a bar code and a deposit sign, after which it is identified. He must also contain a nut. The packaging should not be crushed, just empty and screwed. The label of the packaging covered by the system will have a deposit sign with its height.
“Entrepreneurs introducing drinks in packaging will be required to achieve specific levels of selective collection of packaging and packaging waste within the system (77 percent from 2025 and 90 % from 2029)” – added the ministry. The climate ministry cited the data of the Central Statistical Office, according to which in 2018 8.36 billion of glass packaging was produced, and about 60 percent. Bottles were packaging glasses launched on the Polish market. “About 400 million glass return bottles circulate in circulation. These are usually brown or green bottles with a capacity of 0.5 liters, used for sale of beer. One feedback can be used up to 20 times, but in Poland it is used on average from 8 to 12 times, “the ministry noted.
According to MKIŚ, the introduction of a universal non -marked deposit system and increasing the number of returned bottles will increase the level of reuse of raw materials for packaging (for plastic bottles and metal cans), as well as entire packaging (in the case of multiple -use glass bottles). More information about the system is available on the systemkukujaj.gov.pl website.
From October 1, large stores, with an area of over 200 sq m, They will have to receive empty packaging and make a deposit to customers. However, smaller stores will take a deposit, but joining the packaging collection system in their case will be voluntary. The system will cover three types of packaging: plastic bottles up to 3 liters, metal cans up to 1 liter, as well as – from January 1, 2026 – glass bottles of reusable to 1.5 liters.
Therefore, the civil system will not cover glass bottles of disposable and a deposit will not be taken for them. Whether a given bottle is one -time or reusable is determined by the drink manufacturer himself.
