The Romanian will become a mandatory foreign language in the French pre-university public system, through a pilot program that will be implemented within Collège Aimé et Eugenie Cotton, from Blanc-Mesnil, northeast of Paris. The pilot program will take place over several years and aims to gradually increase the number of students and to structure a training course in Romanian, within the French school system, up to the 12th grade level.

In a Facebook post, the Romanian Embassy in France announces that the Ministry of National Education, Higher Education and Research in the French Republic, through the Créteil Academy, has started a pilot program to study the Romanian language (LV2), in the pre-university public system.

The project will be implemented within Collège Aimé et Eugenie Cotton in the town of Blanc-Mesnil, Seine-Saint-Denis department, from the Île-de-France region, northeast of Paris, where several Romanian-speaking children are school.

The pilot program will take place over several years and aims to gradually increase the number of students and to structure a training course in Romanian, within the French school system, up to the 12th grade level, the Romanian Embassy in France said.

“We thank all those involved in the success of this project! Special thanks to the leadership of Collège aimé et Eugenie Cotton, to Professor Alexandru Mardale, to their students and parents, to the central and local authorities,” the post is mentioned.
