Minimum 8 Romanian athletes on the game sheet!

The decision of the Board of Directors has the role of enhancing the number of Romanian athletes in the internal championships.

The Board of Directors of FRH decided: 8 Romanian players on the game sheet, 3 on the field at any time.

According to Sport.ro, the Board of Directors of the Handball Federation has voted a new extent by which each team in the internal championships, both men and female, must have 8 Romanian players on the play sheet and 3 in the field at any time.

According to the same source, the decision is not final, but will be formalized on April 28 at the General Assembly of FRH.

FRH organized a meeting in January to discuss this decision with clubs

In January this year, FRH management organized a meeting with the leaders of clubs in Romania to discuss the problem raised by Romania's handball players after the European Championship: they do not have enough game time due to the high contribution of foreign players in the internal championship.

14 men's clubs and 12 female clubs participated in the COSR meeting where the idea of ​​the 8 players on the game sheet was first brought to the first time, but the teams came with other proposals.

Also, at this meeting, a U21 or U23 rule was also discussed.

The clubs that pleaded for the version with 8 Romanian players on the game sheet at the meeting organized by FRH:

• Potaissa Turda / Cosmin Sălăjean: “Minimum 8 Romanians on the sheet and from 2026, a U21 player or one U23”

• CSM Constanța / Silviu Băiceanu: “We propose 7 or 8 Romanian players who can participate in the game. The player must show that it is worth playing.”

• CSU Suceava / Iulian Andrei: “A player to grow in value must play. Proposal: 8 players (on the game sheet), eligible for the national team”

• CSM Odorheiu Secuiesc / Istvan: “8 Romanian players per sheet”.

• CSM Vaslui / Bogdan Cristea: “Minimum 8 Romanian players and the rule with U21 or U23”.

• CSM Bacău / Ionuț Rotaru: “8 Romanian players on the sheet. You need a methodical line from FRH starting with Junior 3”.

• Steaua / Ionuț Ciobanu: “8 Romanian players on the sheet. Whoever has value will play. Because the Steaua club does not have a room, we cannot make a pyramid from baby handball to junior / youth. We need to valid the protocols with junior clubs”.

And the other clubs talked about the same topic and came with different proposals for FRH. Especially the men's teams pleaded for 8 Romanian players in the field.

Also from the same generation we see players in Montenegro. They took the step before us. Which matters a lot. It may not matter then, at the moment, but now, if you look from that moment to the future, it mattered.

I try very much to tell girls who are an early age, 20-21 years old, that they have no idea what an incredible chance they have. Be from this age in the national of Romania!
