New law in Ukraine. It concerns, among others, Poland

The act was adopted by the Ukrainian parliament in mid -June. Ukrainian citizen may have passports of other countries. On August 26, during the World Congress of Ukrainians, Wołodymyr Zelanski donated new details about the regulations.

Multiple citizenship will initially concern Poland, Germany and the Czech Republic. Then he will also cover the US and Canada.

“This is a step towards even greater unity of Ukrainians around the world,” Zelnski wrote on social media.

The Act provides for the legalization of the citizens of another country by Ukrainian citizens and the possibility of obtaining a passport of another country without the need for Ukrainian citizenship.

Pursuant to the Act, citizens of other Ukrainian countries may become Ukrainian citizens as part of a simplified procedure. The Act also provides for a shortened procedure for obtaining citizenship if a foreigner serves in military service in Ukraine.

The document prohibits having multiple citizenship to state officials and judges. Pursuant to the new regulations, a person with a passport of another country, but being a citizen of Ukraine, is considered only a Ukrainian citizen on the territory of Ukraine.
