Telegram commented on the decision of Roskomnadzor to limit calls in the messenger to fight criminals.
The messenger’s comment is given by RBC and Forbes. The company said that “they are actively fighting harmful content, fraud, calls for sabotage and violence” and daily delete “millions” of such materials.
In addition, the service first introduced “detailed confidentiality settings for calls, so each Telegram user can determine who to receive calls from, or completely turn off the calls.”
On the eve of Roskomnadzor announced the “partial restriction” of calls to Telegram and WhatsApp*. According to the regulator, a measure is needed to “counteract criminals”. The Ministry of Construction noted that access to calls will be restored if the services fulfill the requirements of Russian legislation.
*WhatsApp belongs to Meta, which is recognized in Russia with an extremist organization and is prohibited.
