The investment, referred to by the Polish government as a strategic, was in the crosshairs of ecologists from Germany, who argue that the planned construction may have a serious negative impact on the region's natural environment.

As a result of a joint lawsuit and a Polish ecological organization The court decided to suspend the key administrative decision until the final judgment was issued, which effectively suspends work on the project.
Although the court's decision is not yet final, it is a significant obstacle to starting construction. The verdict in this case is to be passed on August 4. Until then, the investor – the management of the sea ports of Szczecin and Świnoujście – cannot continue work.
The deputy minister of infrastructure responsible for the maritime economy, Arkadiusz Marchewka, announced the hard attitude of the government in this matter. – The container terminal in Świnoujście is one of the most important investments of the current government. We are not going to give way to a step – he emphasized on Radio ZET.

Prime Minister Donald Tusk until recently assured that the project would be implemented regardless of obstacles. – Nobody will block this terminal – declared the head of government. Meanwhile, the actions of the German side at least temporarily thwarted the start of the investment.

The President of the Ports, Jarosław Siergiej, in an interview with Radio ZET, assessed that the joy of the opponents of the investment is premature. The company is counting on a favorable judgment for Poland, which will allow resumption of preparation for construction. In the event of an unfavorable decision of the Court, the investor announces an appeal.
The container terminal in Świnoujście, which would be built by 2029, is to be the most modern object of this type in the Baltic Sea. The project involves the possibility of servicing the largest ocean units, which is to strengthen Poland's position on the maritime map of the European logistics.
