The water level in Wisła at the Warsaw -Bulvar station has fallen to 15 cm – this is the lowest recorded level here from the beginning of the measurements. Another record was also broken at the Nowogród Narew station. In Poland, the water level below the minimum periodic minimum in 25 points.


The Institute of Meteorology and Water Management (IMGW) announced that 68 warnings against hydrological drought applies on Saturday. The most dry is in eastern, central and southern Poland, but the areas covered with hydrological drought occur in all 16 voivodships.
On Saturday at 299 IMGW stations there was a water flow below the SNQ threshold (medium low flow). In 25 points, a water level below the minimum periodic minimum, and the low water zone was noted at 73 percent. station.
A new record was broken at the Warsaw -Bulvar station – the water level in Wisła recorded at 6.30 on Saturday it was 15 cm. It is 4 cm less than the absolute minimum achieved in September 2024. According to IMGW forecasts, the level of the Vistula in this area on Sunday, July 6 can be only 11 cm. Wisła also has the lowest level in the history of measurements at the Warsaw -Nadwilanówka station – measurements from On Saturday, they indicated 44 cm there, 11 cm less than the absolute minimum of September 2024 and 5 cm less than indicated on Friday, July 4. The river level fell below the absolute minimum at the Szczucin station – it is 69 cm, 3 cm less than the minimum recorded in September 2012.
On the other hand, on the Narew River, the water level below the minimum of the absolute minimum was recorded out of three out of five stations: Nowogród, Ostrołęka and Piątnica-Lomża. At the Nowogród station at 6 On Saturday, a level of 0 cm was recorded, at Ostrołęka – 19 cm, and at the Piątnica -Łonem station – 55 cm.
A very low water level also stays on the Nowe Miasto nad Pilica station, where it fell 2 cm below the current absolute minimum and is currently 32 cm. On the other hand, at Pisa, at the Birds Station, water is 25 cm, i.e. 16 cm less than the lowest level of October 2023.
According to IMGW, until June 30 this year. 50 warnings regarding drought were issued in Poland. As reported, forecasts for July and August provide heat waves with temperatures above 35 degrees C in combination with almost a complete lack of rainfall and low humidity. “It not only worsens the soil, but also dramatically reduces water levels in the rivers,” the Institute said in a communiqué.
The situation at this time of year has never looked so bad from the beginning of hydrological measurements – commented on Friday in an interview with PAP Hydrologist Grzegorz Walijewski from IMGW.
