A monument to the liquidators of the Chernobyl accident is being created in Krasnoyarsk

In Krasnoyarsk production work has begun memorial object, dedicated to the liquidators of the consequences accident at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant 1986-1990

Let us remind you that the initiative to create the monument belongs to the regional public organization of disabled people “Chernobyl Union”. The author of the composition was the famous artist-sculptor Konstantin Zinich. He developed a preliminary design, which was supported by members of the commission for considering applications for the naming and renaming of intracity objects and approved by deputies of the City Council.

“The memorial object will consist of granite pedestals and podiums, as well as two figures 2.3 meters high with the corresponding paraphernalia (dosimeter, gas mask). The sculptor will have to make the entire project life-size from clay, then cast the figures in wax, and then in bronze,” the administration said.

The bronze sculpture will be installed in Severny at the intersection of Komsomolsky Avenue and Mate Zalki Street on the Alley of Chernobyl Heroes on April 26, 2026 – to the 40th anniversary of the accident at the nuclear power plant and the beginning of the liquidation of its consequences.

Let us remind you that the Alley of Chernobyl Heroes was opened 20 years ago – in 2006. The space has been in need of renovation for a long time and this work has been carried out in the last two years.
