National symbol mocked in Maramureș: zinc plated tricolor, dirty with chicken, at 71 euros piece

The “innovation” of a mayor of Maramureș throws an essential national symbol: the flag of Romania. The mayor of Salig, Daniel Pop bought 100 tricolor flags made of galvanized sheet, which violates the Constitution and the law and, in addition, some of them are dirty with hen.

A City Hall in Maramureș bought, in the autumn of last year, 100 flags from the sheet, which cost over 7,000 euros. Thus, each “metal flag” came to cost 299 lei plus VAT, ie over 355 lei (71 euros). His array made from the company Moblux Street in Slatina, through the centralized sicap acquisition system.
This is how the flag description shows according to the purchase announcement:
“Flag (flag) made of zinc -coated sloping sheet and protective foil caught on a metal frame 20×20 with platform pillar and perforated tape. Dimensions: height 1 meter/width 0.5 meters.”
This is when, the average price for a tricolor flag made of premium textile material is around 50 lei (about 10 euros), in a well-known online store.
On the other hand, three meters of square pipe 2 cm, half a square meter of thin sheet, some sticker, three welding points and a few clamping clips cost about 50 lei.
In addition to the unsightly aspect, the flags in the board do not comply with the requirements of the Constitution nor of Law no. 75/1994 regarding the tree of the flag of Romania, the main act that regulates the national flag.

Dozens of flags in zinc plated
In the commune of Sălig, Maramureș, led by the Social Democrat Daniel Pop, the flag of Romania, the most important national symbol, is mocked every day because of an uninspired decision.
Dozens of Romania's “flags”, made of galvanized sheet, are exposed on the pillars in the commune, being dirty, daily, with animal manure. Responsible for this revolting situation is the same mayor who goes to professional training sessions on the coast at All Inclusive – Daniel Pop.
According to the Romanian law, the flag of Romania must comply with certain clear specifications regarding the size, the colors, their arrangement and the material.

The Constitution of Romania is violated
The flag of Romania is regulated by the Constitution of Romania – art. 12 para. (1) in which it is shown: “The flag of Romania is tricolor; the colors are seated vertically, in the following order starting from the spear: blue, yellow, red.”
Law no. 75/1994 regarding the tree of the flag of Romania, which is the main act that regulates the national flag, supplemented by the norms regarding the tree of Romania and the intonation of the national anthem, approved by the Government Decision no. 1157/2001, it provides very clearly that “The flag of Romania is made of quality fabrics, in color resistant colors.”
Specifically, at art. 7 of the methodological norms writes: “The flag of Romania is made of quality fabrics, in the colors blue, yellow and red, arranged in vertical bands of equal dimensions, in the mentioned order, starting from Lance. “
The Methodological Norms that establish the rules of the national flag display (GD no. 1157/2001) indirectly establish that the flag must be: integral, clean, unified, with bright colors and correct shapes. HG1157 provides very clearly that, if deteriorated, it must be replaced immediately.
Law no. 75/1994 regarding the tree of the flag of Romania establishes the obligation of respect and dignity towards the national symbol. If a flag is dirty with feces and yet it is flown, the deed can be classified as desecration (art. 236 Criminal code); may attract criminal liability; And the responsible authority (town hall, public institution) has the obligation to replace it immediately.

Depth of the flag, crime
Criminal Code (art. 236) provides: “The desecration of the flag of Romania, of a national sign, of the coat of arms or the national anthem is punished by imprisonment from 6 months to 3 years or with a fine.”
Therefore, the mayor of Sălig is playing the national flag in two ways: he leaves dozens of pillars in the commune, although he is dirty by animal manure and displays the flags in the board, although the law says very clearly that the national flag is made only from high quality fabrics, with color resistant. In addition, the colors are arranged horizontally and not vertically, as the Constitution requires.
“If they were resisting it would not be bad”
Given that Mayor Daniel Pop was neither at the City Hall's headquarters nor answered the mobile phone to give explanations about the tricolor “innovation”, and Deputy Mayor Dinu Pop would have been on leave, “Adevărul” contacted the local councilors in Sălig.
Dorel Taloș (PNL) believes that the main “quality” of the flag flag is supposed to resistance to the weather.
“Within our community and in the Local Council, decisions come whose details often do not know each other”, he claimed. Asked if he knew all the details regarding the decision to buy the board flags, the counselor said: “In general, we know things, but with the flags that I have not heard from the board at least, I do not know how harmful, I say so, considering that they are mounted all the time. If they resist, it would not be bad.
Regarding the fact that the law is not respected, Talos claimed that it was not careful to see details like the fact that the colors are posted in horizontal, not vertical bands. “I did not see that, please, I had other priorities. Only after they were mounted I saw the flags and so on. The world is divided, but we must admit that there are also mistakes, but there are good things. The situation is complicated.”he said.
Social Democrat Councilor Liviu Dulf claimed that he did not hear the reporter's question and then did not answer the phone.
Head of Post Marius Dragomir asked if he will take measures regarding the violation of the law on the flags mounted on the pillars in the commune, he claimed that this is necessary to refer to the police.
The City Hall did not respond to the written request sent to the institution.
